This event will be held in English.
Cape Town based queer nightlife collective The Death Of Glitter are proud to host a panel discussion for the Pride Month program that will explore African queerness and European responses to queerness and Pride in non-European spaces, facilitating a dialogue on how European organizations like CSD Pride can support and amplify African queer voices and experiences.
This will be followed by a mixer / kiki, featuring sets by D.O.G resident DJs and friends. Topics include the role of Pride in formulating and practicing African queerness, exploring the dance floor as a site of protest, and the essential role nightlife plays in shaping African queer identity.
Since its inception in 2018, The Death Of Glitter (D.O.G) has grown into a cornerstone of Cape Town’s queer culture, becoming a national leader in the conversation around BIPOC queer, trans, and femme visibility. As an officially selected participating collective for WHOLE Festival 2024, D.O.G is using this opportunity to showcase our artists and community to likeminded European audiences.
