Join Mann-O-Meter and Homolulu Berlin on a tour through Berlin\u2019s queer past and immerse yourself in the wild life of 1920s Berlin. Along the way, you\u2019ll get to know queer heroes, activists and role models. We\u2019ll walk through the neighbourhood for around two hours, ending up at one of the local bars where we can enjoy a drink together.<\/p>\n
The Nollendorf neighbourhood is the queer heart of Berlin and has an exciting, thrilling, celebratory yet also, in parts, tragic history, featuring many remarkable figures such as Magnus Hirschfeld, Anita Augspurg, Christopher Isherwood, Claire Waldoff, Audre Lorde and J\u00fcrgen Baldiga, as well as people less well-known to the general public, such as Dora Richter, Hilde Radusch and Albrecht von Krosigk.
\nWe\u2019ll hear about the world\u2019s first public coming-out, the world\u2019s first gay activist group, the world\u2019s first Institute for Sexual Science, and the first gender reassignment surgeries; we\u2019ll visit the second-oldest queer bar in the world still in operation and immerse ourselves in the wild nightlife of the gay and lesbian bars of the Golden Twenties. As there is so much to tell that cannot be covered in two hours, the tour varies slightly each time. So there is always something new to learn. <\/p>\n
