The Berliner CSD e. V. is presenting its political demands for the 2026 CSD season, linking them to a clear objective: the Berliner CSD e. V. intends to bid to host WorldPride 2032. WorldPride is one of the largest international events for the queer community, combining political visibility with significant impetus for queer culture and tourism. If the bid is successful, WorldPride would take place in Germany for the very first time.<\/p>\n

“As a city of freedom, Berlin has the potential to host WorldPride 2032. However, international visibility and a strong community are not things to be taken for granted. They require political decisions, long-term investments, and a clear commitment to permanently strengthening queer life. With a bid for WorldPride 2032, we aim to initiate a collaborative process that reinforces the sense of solidarity within both the queer community and the wider urban society, brings people together, and sends strong signals of freedom, diversity, and democracy out into society!” explains Marcel Voges, a board member of the Berliner CSD e. V.<\/p>\n

Through its demands ahead of the 2026 House of Representatives elections, the Berliner CSD e. V. makes it clear that the future state government must demonstrate greater commitment to the “Rainbow Capital.” At a time when anti-queer violence is on the rise, community spaces are coming under pressure, and many projects are struggling to secure funding, there is a need for a political strategy that ensures safety, strengthens infrastructure, and protects democracy.<\/p>\n

The Berliner CSD views the bid for WorldPride 2032 as an opportunity for sustainable investment in queer infrastructure, culture, education, the local economy, and a democratic civil society. For decades, Berlin has benefited from its international appeal as an open and diverse metropolis. This standing must now be actively safeguarded and further developed.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Political and financial support for a bid to host WorldPride 2032
\u2022 Protection and expansion of queer spaces and infrastructure
\u2022 Greater safety and protection against anti-queer violence
\u2022 Visibility and diversity in educational institutions
\u2022 Expansion of queer-competent healthcare services
\u2022 Long-term funding for major queer events and the organizations that host them<\/p>\n

\u201cMaintaining and further developing Berlin\u2019s status as the \u2018Rainbow Capital\u2019 means strengthening queer life in all its facets\u2014through greater safety, robust community structures, improved educational and healthcare services, and long-term support for queer infrastructure,\u201d adds Carolina Philipps, a board member of the Berliner CSD e. V.
The Berliner CSD therefore calls upon the future state government to establish the necessary political and financial frameworks to ensure that Berlin remains\u2014both now and in the future\u2014a city where queer life is visible, safe, and a matter of course.<\/p>\n
