What can you expect?

You’ll support us in various areas of CSD Berlin and will be assigned to a shift. You can let us know your preferred shift times when you apply.

We’ll provide you with a detailed briefing at a pre-event and assign you a team lead who will also serve as your point of contact.

On July 25, an exclusive volunteer area will also be available with everything you need to feel comfortable.

FAQ

Do I need to have experience?

No. You don’t need any prior experience.

What’s important is that you’re reliable, treat people with respect, and are eager to be part of the team. We’ll teach you everything else.

How long are the shifts?

Shifts typically last several hours and are scheduled to be manageable.

We’ll let you know your exact shift times well in advance of the event.

Will I receive a briefing?

Yes.

All volunteers receive a briefing before their assignment with the most important information, contact people, and procedures. You won’t be thrown in at the deep end.

What kinds of roles are available?

There are various roles available, ranging from providing support along the route and manning information stations to overseeing specific areas.

We’ll try to place you in a role where you feel comfortable and can make a meaningful contribution.

Will I receive support during my shift?

Yes.

There are team leaders and staff members on site who will support you and help you with any questions or concerns.

Is there a lounge area for volunteers?

Yes. There will be a separate area where you can take a break, have a drink, and meet other volunteers between or after your shift.

Will I receive a confirmation of my participation?

If you need a certificate of participation (e.g., for your employer or school), we’d be happy to provide one. Just get in touch with us!

Can I sign up with friends or coworkers? Absolutely.

You can sign up individually and indicate on the form that you’d like to be assigned together. For companies with volunteer days, there are also options for team sign-ups.

What happens after I apply?

Once you’ve completed the survey, we’ll get back to you with more information. After we receive your application, we’ll review it and, if necessary, contact you with additional questions. We do this to find the perfect assignment for you.
After this step, you’ll receive—ideally—details about your assignment, the schedule, and all organizational details.

I'm not sure if I'm “the right person” for this.

If you’re reading this, you probably are. You don’t have to be loud or the center of attention. It’s enough just to be there—when it matters.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at any time.
