Berlin is getting its first Drag March.
Berliner CSD e. V., Travestie für Deutschland, and the Order of the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence Bring a New York Tradition to the Brandenburg Gate
Berlin, June 29, 2026 – Berliner CSD e. V. is expanding the Pride program with a new format: On Friday, July 24, 2026, the first official Drag* March will take place in Berlin. This demonstration for visibility, diversity, democracy, and solidarity will lead to the Brandenburg Gate under the motto: “Attitude is Hot – Blessings Instead of Hate Speech!” [1]
The Drag* March is co-supported by the Order of the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence and Travestie für Deutschland, building on the tradition of the New York Drag March. At the same time, it sends a strong signal for an art form that has been an integral part of queer life, creative expression, and social commitment for decades.
Particularly at a time when drag artists and queer visibility are increasingly becoming targets of hostility and political debate, the organizers want to set a positive example for diversity, respect, and democratic cohesion.
“With the Drag* March, we are bringing a strong and highly visible form of community, culture, and protest to Berlin. Drag has been part of queer history and the present day for many decades. That is precisely why it is important to take a stand and make it clear that diversity, freedom, and democracy belong together,” says Thomas Hoffmann from the board of Berliner CSD e. V.. [1]
Schedule and Route
The Drag* March starts at Platz der Republik by the Bundestag U-Bahn station and leads via Scheidemannstraße, Yitzhak-Rabin-Straße, and Straße des 17. Juni directly to the Brandenburg Gate. The route is around one kilometer long, making it intentionally short and easily accessible.
Participants are invited to come in drag. The march is explicitly intended to be an open, solidary, and inclusive event within the community.
Kick-off for the Evening of Democracy at the Brandenburg Gate
The Drag* March ends at the Brandenburg Gate, where it transitions directly into the Berliner CSD’s Evening of Democracy. Featuring live acts, political speeches, and artistic formats, it creates a space for encounter, exchange, and collective commitment to an open and democratic society.
