Description
With Ades Zabel, Biggy van Blond & Bob Schneider
Neukölln is in shock: After decades of a cozy existence as a state-subsidized icon of the precarious class, Edith Schröder has actually gone and gotten a job! For our “Futschi Queen” has come into an inheritance—specifically, a food truck located in the chic district of Mitte. “If they can charge 18 euros up there for a squashed avocado on Lidl toast, then let’s just see what *I* can get for a meat patty on a bun!” she tells herself. She then ropes in her friends—pub landlady Jutta and neighborhood “tramp” Biggy—to sell expired *Bockwurst*, soggy fries, and warm beer to the urban clientele.
Sporting cat-print T-shirts, leopard-print leggings, and blouses with shoulder pads, the three “dragons” take on the city center. At their grill stand, they encounter soy-latte-sipping hipsters, foodie influencers, and bewildered parliamentarians who are utterly baffled by the world of Neukölln. Amidst gluten-free lentil balls and *Bockwurst* sourced from a discount sausage outlet, cultures collide: Helicopter parents raise an uproar over the smell of grease and “aesthetic harassment,” while conservative politicians demand brown gravy instead of curry seasoning. It certainly doesn’t help matters that Biggy starts offering a “Happy Hour with a Happy Ending”—or that a widow unexpectedly steps forward to lay claim to the inheritance.
Anyone wishing to find out whether the green stuff on the meat really is just marinade—and exactly how many *Futschis* (schnapps shots) are required to recover after sampling Edith’s sausages—will have to stop by the BKA Theater starting in July. Here, the Ades Zabel Company, with their latest “Neuköllnical” titled *Drei Drachen vom Grill* (Three Dragons at the Grill), draws a grand narrative arc: from the Super 8 films originally shot as a parody of the similarly titled SFB TV series, all the way to their current success as a modern form of popular theater on Mehringdamm. The MUST-SEE of Summer ’26!
