Baltic Pride in Vilnius in cooperation with CSD Berlin
The “Baltic Pride” paraded through Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania, on Saturday, calling for more tolerance and equality in the Baltic EU country. The parade was the highlight of the multi-day “Baltic Pride” festival, which takes place alternately in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. It advocates for LGBTIQ rights in the Baltic states.
With it was our Berlin CSD e.V. Chairman Ulli Pridat, who was particularly pleased about the partnership with the Baltic Pride and the invitation to the Pride Reception on Friday evening at the Norwegian Ambassador. There performed among others the legendary drag queen La Diva from Brussels.
According to the police, about 4500 people took part in the demonstration through the Old Town, the organizers of Baltic Pride and the city administration estimated the number to be more than double.
Very pleasant was the participation of Remigijus Simasius, the mayor of Vilnius. The capital had supported Pride under the slogan “Vilnius. Proud of Who I Am”.
