Friedrich Naumann foundation invites to meeting with Eastern European activists

At the invitation of the Friedrich Naumann foundation, the board of the Berlin CSD e.V. met a group of activists from Bulgaria, Romania and the Republic of Moldova. Among them were representatives of “ACCEPT Association Romania”, “GenderDocM Moldova”, “CU Sens Moldova”, “Bulgarian Helsinki Committee” & “LGBT Organization Deystvie Bulgaria”.

Also present were Raimar Wagner (Head of Bucharest Office, Friedrich Naumann Foundation) and Amadeus Langstengel (Program Coordinator, Friedrich Naumann Foundation) – together we exchanged ideas about our work and especially about the security of our communities.

It is frightening to see and hear that queer people still have to fear for their safety in parts of Eastern Europe and that support from public authorities is minimal or even non-existent. However, this exchange also served to answer questions of the activists about our work in the Berlin CSD e. V. to implement a demonstration in Berlin and to support the communities. We discussed the topics of partner/sponsorships, team and task distribution, finance and political communication and exchange.

We thank the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for this very interesting morning and are happy to have met all the representatives. On behalf of the Berliner CSD e. V. we have invited all activists to the 44th Berlin CSD on 23.7.22 and offered our support on a professional level for the implementation of more visibility in Bulgaria, Romania and the Republic of Moldova.
