Participation in Hamburg / Vigil

CSD Berlin e.V. is participating in Hamburg’s CSD on Saturday on short notice with its own truck and is supporting the call for a vigil in the Tiergarten on Sunday.

Following the attack on the CSD (Pride) parade in Berlin, the organizing association, Berliner CSD e. V., is making a deliberate statement in support of solidarity, visibility, and democracy: the association will participate in the Hamburg CSD parade on short notice with its own truck. The truck is being provided to the association free of charge.

The 2026 Berlin CSD was the largest in the capital’s history. At the same time, it was overshadowed by a tragic loss. Berliner CSD e. V. mourns the person who lost their life. Our thoughts are with the injured, their loved ones, and everyone processing what they experienced.

The decision to participate in the Hamburg parade just one week later was not an easy one for the association. There is a fine line between mourning and moving forward. Yet both are important, and Berliner CSD e. V. aims to make this clear this weekend.

“Now, more than ever, we must not let ourselves be intimidated. Our answer to hate is solidarity. Our answer to fear is visibility. And our answer to violence is a community that stands up for one another. We will dance again!” declares the board of Berliner CSD e. V. By participating in the Hamburg CSD on Saturday, the association is sending a clear signal to the queer community and far beyond: We will not allow fear to dictate our actions. Visibility, diversity, and solidarity cannot be taken for granted. We fought hard for this space; that is why we defend it together.

Out of respect for the victims, participants are asked to wear dark clothing while on the truck.

Sunday will focus on commemoration. Berliner CSD e. V. is supporting the vigil for the victims of the attack organized by the LSVD (Association for Queer Diversity) Berlin-Brandenburg. …association and its national federation are extending an invitation and calling on people to participate (Sunday, August 2, 2026, 6:00 p.m., Ahornsteig, Großer Tiergarten, near Lennéstraße).

For the association, pressing ahead on Saturday and pausing for reflection on Sunday go hand in hand; one does not replace the other. It is important to create space and visibility for both sentiments.

By spontaneously participating in Hamburg, the association is also sending a clear message: We are not stopping. There will be a CSD in Berlin again, too. And this weekend, we are showing our support for Hamburg Pride.
