Description
Step into the hidden history of Berlin’s queer, trans, and sexual underground.
Long before the world spoke of Pride, queer rights, or sex-positivity, Berlin was already breaking the rules: fighting for homosexual rights, challenging gender norms, experimenting with sexual freedom, and creating spaces where queer life could flourish — often under threat, often against resistance, but always with courage.
On this immersive walking tour, you will explore over 150 years of Berlin’s hidden history: from 19th-century activists to lesbian bars, drag performers, and trans pioneers of the Weimar Republic; from Magnus Hirschfeld’s Institute for Sexual Science to Nazi persecution, queer life during the Cold War, the AIDS crisis, and today’s sex-positive club culture.
✨ What you’ll experience:
– queer, trans, and sexual history beyond the usual narratives
– stories of activism, repression, pleasure, resistance, and survival
– rare archival photos, videos, quotes, Augmented Reality, and interactive media
– places connected to Karl Heinrich Ulrichs, Berlin’s 1920s queer nightlife, Magnus Hirschfeld’s institute, Nazi persecution, and legendary nightlife culture
– a vivid journey from the birth of modern sexual science to Berghain, KitKatClub, and Folsom Europe
