A light and easy to understand lecture about archaeological finds of Transgender and Queer people. Beginning 5000 years ago in 3rd millennium BCE Mesopotamia, through Ancient Egypt and Iron Age Iran, Roman Period texts regarding gender, Byzantine Period transgender monks and ends with Gender in the Viking world.This is the story of transgender people from the distant past, based on archaeological finds and written evidence, told by a transwoman archaeologist.

Gali Jaffe is an archaeologist with a B.A. & M.A. in Archaeology from Tel Aviv University, and over 20 years of experience as a field archaeologist and lecturer, specializing in making archaeology accessible to the public. She lives in Berlin with her family, lectures live and via zoom about Archaeology and Gender and guides tours in the city and all the archaeological and historical museums of the city, as well as other European cities.
